In a recent announcement, new electricity rates were announced by the prime minister of Pakistan, Shahbaz Sharif. The motto of the reduction is to provide immediate relief to electricity consumers across Pakistan. New electricity rates have been revised for multiple users, including commercial, domestic, lifeline, industrial, and agriculture, and also for Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
- Those consumers having a sanction load of 1 kW or having consumption below 100 units will be charged Rs. 4.78 per unit.
- Electricity consumers will pay an average of Rs. 37.64 per unit for consumption nationwide.
- Up to 100 units, domestic consumers will pay 9.37 per unit.
- Up to 200 units, consumers will be charged Rs. 11.51 per unit
- Up to 300 units, domestic consumers will be charged 34.03 rupees per unit for their electricity consumption.
- For commercial consumers, the electricity rate will now be 62.47 per unit.
- Industrial consumers will now pay Rs40.51 per unit for their consumption.
- Agricultural consumers will face a rate of Rs34.58 per unit.
- While in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), electricity tariffs are set at Rs32.69 per unit.
